Chowpatty Beach and Juhu Beach

Known as Bombay until a few decades ago, Mumbai is one of the major Indian cities, which is located on its west coast, overlooking the Arabian Sea. With nearly 14 million people it holds the record for the most densely populated cities in the world with as many as 31,200 inhabitants per square kilometer. It is also ranked fifth among the most populous cities in the world, after Shanghai, Karachi, Beijing, and Tokyo. The beach life is one of the reasons that annually attract in Mumbai a large number of tourists from every part of the globe. The best beaches in the city are two, of which one is the biggest one and the other is the most popular.

Mumbai is a real paradise for all those who love sea landscapes and the life that certain types of beaches animate, especially during the summer season. In the city there are two beaches, very different from each other but united by the incredible fun that makes you want to live day after day, leaving a lasting impression on all tourists who decide to visit it. The two beaches we’re talking about are Chowpatty Beach and Juhu Beach. Let’s look a bit more closely to realize that a visit there is really a must if you are in the Indian city.

Chowpatty Beach is located in the center of Mumbai. It is the largest beach and, consequently, it is also the busiest in the area. This is a very particular beach because a part of it is occupied by the trees. For tourists it is therefore possible to choose whether to relax under the sun or simply go on the shade. In both cases, it is the place to turn your gadgets off, even if only for a few hours, and leave behind the chaos that characterizes the metropolitan cities. At night, Chowpatty Beach comes alive even more, until late at night. It becomes, in fact, a place of leisure, as well as a real tourist attraction. All this then compensates to a single defect, namely that the water is to that clear. Between August and September you can witness a unique event, ie the Caturthi Ganesh, a popular festival in which images of Ganesh (god of fortune) are first carried in procession and immersed in the sea.

A little less than thirty miles from the center of Mumbai, Juhu Beach is a long stretch of sand that is the most famous beach in the Indian city. A characteristic of the place are the many kiosks that distinguish it. They are special places where you can buy food with which you can have a traditional picnic on the beach. Due to all its particularity, Juhu Beach is one of the most chic places in Mumbai, with residential apartments and bungalows to accommodate elite tourists. It is a real gastronomic paradise, with typical local snacks (like Bhel puri) and special drinks made from syrup and ice. In short, the stalls are not lacking. Especially during the summer you can do beautiful horseback riding on the beach or watch different shows. What’s more, you have the opportunity to buy directly on-site souvenirs, made with shells and other trinkets.
